Student Florist Cup 2017

This year 14 florist students from 7 different schools from Estonia (Räpina School of Horticulture, Estonian Florist School, Luua Forestry School), Latvia (Florist School Ziedulaiva, Floral School-Workshop Grieta), Finland (TTS Työtehoseura) and Russia (School of Floristry „Flowers in Details“) participated in the competition.

Design I was a room decoration in the theme “Naturally Estonian”, and the competitors know the task. In this design both competitors of the school team work as a pair. This design is where you work with typical Estonian natural material and cultivated flowers. The competitiors collected material from forest in the same morning as they competed.

II design was bouquet for the President of the Republic of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid. The competitors were made aware before beginning that the assignmentˊs theme is to create a bouquet fitting the President of Estonia.

III design was a surprise theme. The competitiors task here is to make a floral decoration on a set of designer glasses. There is a styrofoam head presented that can be used as holder while making this third design.

The judging procedure was closed.

Judges – Indra Jaudaldere (Latvia), Zygmunt Sieradzan (Poland), Miia Hakala (Finland) and Yulia Medvedyeva (Estonia).

Technical committee – Beguta Kevvai (Estonia), Argo Juske (Estonia).

Grand Prix was achieved by Krislyn Prants, a student from Estonia, Räpina School of Horticulture. The runner up place went to Anu Uibo (Estonia, Räpina School of Horticulture) and the bronze went to Ivan Gorbachev from Russia, School of Floristry „Flowers in Details”.
